THERE IS NO HIDING THE FACT THAT HERE AT MOO MOO & BEAR, WE ARE BIG SCHNAUZER LOVERS.  WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT THIS INSTANTLY RECOGNISABLE BREED WHATEVER THE SIZE?

We wanted to celebrate their diversity and individual characters and share their quirks and personalities with a fun series called The Schnauzer Spotlight, in which we interview and share the love of a few schnauzers we know.

First up, a little Black and Silver schnauzer you may know well.....it's our very own Lolah Moo Moo! She is of course, the very reason behind us even being in business so it's only right we share her story.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE THE SCHNAUZER BREED?

"When your children are teenagers, it's important to have a dog so that someone in the house is happy to see you" - Nora Ephron

This is the quote that rang so true in our house, but as someone with allergies to many animals, and a long sufferer due to the love of animals, we had to choose carefully.  We didn't want animal hair everywhere, nor did we want a large dog where nothing in the house would be safe.  

So across the cricket pitch one Sunday morning was a little Pepper and Salt schnauzer.....such a characterful little man that I fell in love straight away with the breed.   After further investigation into suitable breeds for our lifestyle, the Miniature Schnauzer was the breed that kept coming up time and again.  

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL STORY

Lolah Moo Moo was my first ever dog and I fell in love from the moment I met her at just 4 weeks old.  She joined our family as an 8 week old puppy and has been adored and spoilt rotten by all the family since then.  She is a true 'Little Lady' at heart, with a very gentle nature in everything she does. 

She is Miss Independent, likes her own way, and yes, she usually gets it...well if you bark for long enough!  Seriously stubborn, but she is a schnauzer, but adorable at the same time!  

She loves her home comforts, a sofa is not good enough and never to be found laying on the floor...she is our very own princess and the pea, and often found on top of a tower of cushions.

Sadly, Lolah suffers from anxiety, and has a noise phobia.  We are working hard combatting this and over the past few years have seen massive changes in her behaviour.  From a dog that liked her own company better than ours, who came for a stroke on her own terms but was as stiff as board, its wonderful to see the changes that can occur.  She adores a cuddle now, and can really snuggle....priceless.

WHAT QUIRKS DO THEY HAVE?

Lolah certainly has quirks, they are behaviours we accept, but try and explain them to someone else and you've got a wierd dog!  She has to walk on the outside of Minny Bear on the lead, and will do a bit of a Do-si-do getting to the right place.  She loves to dig her bed before settling.  Little does she know that absolutely nothing has changed when she's settled and all that energy could have been used so much more productively in sleeping for longer! She spends hours finding the right spot.....you know the one?

Erm....loads: Moo Moo, Big Dog, Pretty Dog, Grumpy Dog, Barky Dog, Lolah Malolah, Gorgeous Girl, My Little Poppet, Munchkin.

WHAT ARE THE MOST SCHNAUZER-ISH CHARACTERISTICS IN YOUR SCHNAUZER?

• The iconic beard
• Security Guard extraordinaire
• Stubborn
• Wiry coat

WHAT IS THE FUNNIEST/NAUGHTIEST THING YOUR SCHNAUZER HAS EVER DONE?

Lolah Moo Moo once decided to help herself to several luxury dog sausages that were being packaged up on the kitchen table....she would call it "quality testing".  She had so many that her stomach was bulging and rock solid....so a trip to the V E T it was, as these were not going to digest anytime soon.  1kg of sausages emerged fully intact from a 7kg dog...she declined any more sausages for oooh at least a day!

WHO IS THEIR FAVOURITE HUMAN?

Erm....me of course! However Daddy does come a very close second, and wins hands down for the waggiest tail greeting!

WHERE IS THEIR FAVOURITE PLACE TO WALK?

The beach.

WHAT IS THEIR FAVOURITE GAME OR TOY?

Lolah loves a game of fetch, inside only, as there are way too many distracting smells outside, and only when Minny Bear doesn't spoil the game.  

WHAT IS THEIR FAVOURITE TREAT?

Sausages....see above!

WHERE IS THEIR FAVOURITE SPOT IN THE HOUSE?

On Daddys pillow.

Yes, she likes to be heard, mainly when the doorbell rings and in the garden she is our very own security.  Oh and obviously likes to also have a grumble and the last word!
