OUR DOG'S PAWS ARE EXPOSED TO ALL THE ELEMENTS, FROM ICY COLD WINTER WALKS TO HOT TEMPERATURES ON THOSE RARE BALMY DAYS IN BRITAIN!

Unless you’re planning on putting booties on your dog, they’ll need a little tender loving care to keep their paws feeling tip-top.

Paw balm is a brilliant moisturiser for your dog’s paws, which is a great addition to your dog’s paw care regime!

Let’s explore the pawfect paw care routine for your dog’s little tootsies.

7 STEPS TO EXCELLENT PAW CARE FOR YOUR DOG

1.   Check between your dog’s toes for any debris or soreness

2.   Keep fur on your dog’s toes trimmed to prevent matting

3.   Trim your dog’s nails regularly - or take them to the vets or groomers for regular maintenance

4.   Moisturise your dog's paw pads to prevent cracking and soreness

5.   Protect their paws in extreme weather with dog paw balm

6.   Be mindful of the terrain you’re walking on with your dog

7.   Don’t walk your dog on hot pavement (it hurts!)

WHY ARE MY DOGS PAWS SO ROUGH?

If your dog has rough paw pads, then they could benefit from a little TLC.

Long hikes, walking on rough terrain or exposure to chemicals such as salt and grit in the winter months can all take their toll on your dog’s paws. Walking on hot pavements can also lead to sores or paw burn for your dog.

Dry, cracked or rough paw pads can be sore for your dog, and it can also make them more susceptible to tears or injuries.

Keeping to a regular paw care regime for your dog can help soothe and heal your dog’s sore paws.

PAW BALM FOR DOGS - WHAT'S IT FOR ANYWAY?!

Paw balm can help not just maintain and repair your dog’s rough paw pads, but it can help protect from the elements too.

We use the Dog and I Natural Paw Balm, which is a blend of hemp, lavender and peppermint oils to soothe and moisturise Minny and Lolah’s little paws.

We love going on long hikes together and having little adventures, and I want to know that the girls are always comfortable and ready for a good explore!

The Dog and I natural paw balm is a little pot of magic that’s perfect for soothing sore paws and restoring paw pad health, so your dog’s paws are smooth, comfortable and ready for adventure!

It can also be used on dry noses, callouses, calloused elbows and to soothe hot spots. It really is quite magical!

WHEN TO USE PAW BALM FOR DOGS

Reach for your dog’s paw balm before long walks or hikes, in extreme weather, and as part of your regular paw care regime.

The balm acts as a barrier cream, which is especially useful as a preventative measure against callouses and cracked paws, particularly when walking rough terrains.

HOW TO APPLY PAW BALM FOR DOGS

Applying your dog’s paw balm is a great bonding activity.  It’s best done when your dog is relaxed, so you can snuggle up and turn it into a mini massage session!

If your dog isn’t best keen on the idea, then use a long-lasting chew or a lickimat to keep them busy while you apply the balm and let it soak in.

The Dog and I paw balm is made from all-natural ingredients, which are completely dog safe, so don’t worry if your dog has a little taste!

CARING FOR YOUR SCHNAUZER'S PAWS IN SNOWY WEATHER

    schnauzer snowballs

Schnauzers and other hairy breeds can pick up little clusters of icy cold snow in their fur, especially on their legs.

This is not only uncomfortable for your dog but can lead to matts and the need for even more grooming!

Instead, opt for a suit that covers your Schnauzer’s legs or use coconut oil on their leg fur before heading out for a snowy winter walk.

    IN CONCLUSION

Our dog’s paws are resilient, but they still need regular TLC to keep them comfortable and free from sores, cuts and callouses.

Plus, who doesn’t love a good excuse to engage in some pampering for our wonderful best friends?

Consider using paw balms or waxes to protect the paws from harsh weather conditions, such as hot pavement or ice and snow.
